My Pregnancy Journey (Part 1)

All the sudden i remembered that i have to record the journal of this pregnancy before i deliver in Nov, you know how they said a woman will lost much of her memory after delivery??? Didn't want to concoct a fiction story based on that..
I'm now into my 2nd trimester, 24th weeks to be exact, 16 weeks to full term, 14 weeks if Baby E decides to pop out like her sister, that's like 98 days to D-day. Some figures huh? Frankly, i'm a little worried about delivery and handling a baby after 5 years. It's like starting a new job after resting at home, those kind of jitters that are messing up my mind every moment.
THE START
My menses has been very regular every month so when i missed it during 6th Mar (the day i moved house), i half- suspected i have won the 'lottery'. But on the other hand I was hoping this could be due to stress and tiredness after a trip to Korea in Jan, packing and head spearing the renovation of the new flat Feb. I was even carrying heavy cartons and moving the dining table.
After a week of 'MIA', i couldn't handle the suspicion and bought a Clearblue test kit before heading to office. I only manage to gather my courage for the test only near to lunchtime. I swear i have never felt so anxious and worried when i stuck the kit under my pee. Instructions stated a - dash means not pregnant and a + means pregnant. I was gloating on my happiness when i saw the the dash appearing until that stupid horizontal blue line starts to run down the dash. Yes, i'm PREGNANT!
I was half cursing and shaking, still on the toilet bowl, when i finally tried to calm myself down. I should be happy even though it's an accidental pregnancy. I'm married for god sake and not an underage gal!!! I sms-ed hub the moment i reached my desk with a simple message - 'confirmed pregnant, how'? Immediately i got a call from him and he was as confused as me on the news. It was only until 1 week later that both of us finally accepted the fact that we're expecting again and only then i informed my family.
Everyone, including Eili are ecstatic on the news except us...
1ST TRIMESTER
Bad..i constantly felt tired and sleepy. Vomited more than 10 times i think, due to hunger or brushing my teeth. Even Eili knows i'm not feeling well when i vomited in front of her, she became more sensitive to my needs. She even became more protective of me, holding my hands when the floor is wet, offering her seat in the train to me and holding the ends of my dress when we take the escalator (she afraid that the escalator might suck in my dress like crocs shoes).
Few weeks past, i noticed the changes in me. My body is changing rapidly - my boobs are bigger and face is bloated. So obvious that most of my colleagues are guessing either i'm gaining weight or pregnant. I became more short fuse, with limited patience and guess who are the victims to my temper?? Hahah... i also started to wake up for toilet every single day even though i went once before my bedtime and tried drinking lesser water won't help.
I'm constantly feeling thirsty, at times 2 cans of drinks at one go and another 2 cups of water when i'm back in office. I'm half thinking that my gestational diabetes is back. My gynae did the blood test on me before the usual 5th mth due to my previous record of GB but the result for GB is clear with only high level of white blood cells tainted in my test. Dr Chandran said he'll conduct another blood test during my 5th month, arghh i hate blood test!!
It was probably due to my raging hormones during the 1st trimester that i started to have the blues. I hated my new job and thought this pregnancy really came at the wrong time. We have just moved into our new flat, I only started this new job less than a month and FIL had a stroke this CNY. So many bad things are happening at one go, for one moment, i almost breakdown!
Only after the end of the 1st trimester that things starts to look brighter. I took a liking to my new work scope, I'm happily settling at my new house, there are some solutions to some problems. Of course, not all at solved but things are looking better...for now...
Gosh a super long entry, i need to rest my brain for now...can't think of anything else...

Month of May

time really flies...April came and left, now May is leaving too.
We have watched CATS, celebrated Mothers' Day, my birthday and back from our Bali trip. Now it's time to slow things down, though plenty much to prepare. 'Dolling' up the house, preparatory work for Eili's primary school registration next year (YES next year!!!), preparing to deliver...sigh...so much to do so little time.
One thing remains the same - routine. I still fetch Eili from school everyday, walking through the 10 mins home are getting tougher for me and will get worst when my stomach grows bigger and heavier. Now i already feel breathless after a short walk, must be the age. No choice as Hub can't make it in time. I still cook after i fetched Eili on alternate days. At times, i admired those with family support, they don't have to rush home or wipe out their annual leave when the kid is sick. Yet getting a domestic helper is not a way out for me, i just can't and won't trust them with the kid alone.

new nest late post

i have officially stayed in my new place for almost a month come next 6th. at first i thought we'll be taking a while to adjust to this new place, new enviornment and spacious hall but i'm wrong.

eili took it off on the first night, insisting to sleep on her own while we actually had plans to camp in her room for the next 1 week. i was really surprised when she slept in her new room with no fuss and complaints or middle of the night disturbance from her. That's when i realised, she's turning 5 and has become an independent gal who's no longer a little baby that we thought. ;)

Can you believe that i have yet to snap any photos in the house?? Till now, there are still some rectification works around the house, the curtain holders are not ready, the guest room is still messy. perhaps being almost a perfectionist, i can't take any photos until 100% of the house are ready. But lucky you, thanks to my sister who is trying her skills in a SLR, here are some sneak preview:

Our favourite cosy corner - living room

The disco ball light that decor my hall - totally luving it!!

My dining chandelier

my next place to unwind - my bathroom

The rain that i can control - shiok!!

My escapade haven - see how windy it is everyday!!

here is where i can show my skills in cooking and soon baking!!

Finally a belated CNY reunion dinner

Still alive

i wonder how i managed to stay 1 piece without collasping or breakdown. With the organsing of the trip and managing the renovation of my new place...i am surprised at my calm state...
Bad news come 1 after another..before even i can catch my breathe
boss leaving
recession
lost my 'promotion'
my aunt fell
my mum's prob
MIL's health
Hub's uncle kidney prob
i kept praying to God to keep me sane and shoo the huge dark clouds before me, as this is only the 3rd week yet i'm experiencing the worst crisis in my life! Please aid me to ride smoothly this torturous journey for the rest of this year, amin. I don't know if i can handle another bad news....
Now my top priority is hoping that my aunty can recover fast and be healthy again. Seeing her with tubes all around her body causes so much tears, she's such a strong & persistent lady that she can't stop pulling the tubes that are of discomfort to her. Ah Yi, jia you, G needs you to be around when she deliver your first grandson in few more months. Everyone want to see the fierce, active and funny Ah Yi again.

Be strong...

My mum told me today that ah meow is very sick, in fact, she's not sure whether our cat can pull through this sickness. She didn't really say what happened just that ah meow constantly struggles to breathe. And the major upgrading of the whole block (noise/dust) will not help her current condition. Sharks!!!

OMG i can't imagine another of my cat passing on especially after Garfield's incident last year. In fact, ah meow is the first cat who changed my thinking and liking to the feline species, i used to hate cats, really! She has been with us for about 15 years. Although she's first cat in our family, she didnt get the same kind love we showered on the rest of the clan.

Firstly, ah meow is really a clingy cat. She needs her daily stroking irregardless where you are, on the chair, dining table, even lying on your chest when you are sleep, very manja. Secondly, she's a fiesty cat! Sometimes she'll secretly bite our toes and ran away when we are sleeping. Even when other cats started to come into our family, she will never let her guard down. Thirdly, she don't like to join the clan. She's a loner but she has her own good qualities. In fact she love to purr loudly while giving you a mini massage on your chest (imagine a little cat dance) and she's the only one who will respond when called.

Mum didn't want to bring her to the vet since it's expensive, we spent more than $1k on Garfield and the doc even misdiagnosed the illness. I am worried and wish i can go down to visit her but mum said it's quite noisy and dusty at her place because of the upgrading.

I really hope she can pull thru this time. . . . if she still not well next week, i might want to bring her to the vet....

1st luv SOLD

1.....2.....GONE.....

my house ('her') is gone...just like in an auction when the hammer went down hard on the table, that's how my heart feels right now.
crushed & shattered to pieces..
I have already previously stated that I'm not 100% willing to let go but for the sake of my family, I have to let her go.
Don't ask me how much i have made from this transaction as no amount can justify the love i had for her...5 years of peaceful living, 5 years of beautiful scenery & serenity, 5 years of fond memories...
my friend said 'have to let go wholeheartedly' and my sister replied 'first love is always hard to let go'....it's sooo true!!
It's my first matrimony house after all, a place we have worked hard to buy, argued & fought over the design and where we can walk around the house in the dark with peace...that her beauty...for that i have to make sure the next owners love you like i do.
So long 638...

Mid Autumn & Birthday Lurve

MOONCAKES
What does Mid Autumn Festival means??? Besides lantern and moon grazing. Though officially ended yesterday, it means MOONCAKES and more mooncakes. Plenty of mooncakes but only a handful of them are halal. I remembered vividly that I never fancy mooncakes when i was young, i will only take the baked skin and pass the whole lotus paste filling to my grandma. HahHahaa...bad me....and snowskin mooncakes only make their debut years later and everyone loves snowskin for it's cooling taste.
After tasting Polar's exorbitant snowskin mooncake, i have given up in finding a 'real' chinese mooncake. Then came along Prima Deli (2nd halal bakery here), i risked my $7+ for a piece of red bean baked skin mooncake. YUCKS!! Hard and totally no taste except the red bean paste.
All hopes were not lost UNTIL my colleague introduced me to Amway Baked Skin Mooncakes. I was skeptical initially as Amway is popular for their housecleaning detergent, LOC and not for food. I went ahead and purchase as they are even cheaper than the local bakery here.
4 different flavours only costs $29, SUPER CHEAP!!! where to find such price now and 4 different flavours and it's HALAL!!! I bought the Four Season collection which consists of White Lotus (reduced sugar), Flaky Skin White Lotus with Yolk, Green Tea & Red Bean and Golden Chestnut (reduced sugar). Behold....it's sooooo good that i can't described. It's soft, nice fragrance of baked skin, authentic and aren't dry at all. Soooo good that i have already consumed 2 boxes of it, ALONE!!! Even my chinese colleagues are buying in bulk ok!
Heard that Amway sold more than thousands of mooncakes yearly and even if you are rich, when the stocks are gone, it is gone!! I'm going to grab 3 boxes next year!!

Sorry, that's all i snapped as I forgotten to take the contents. Too busy consuming them.
Imagine my happiness (to the max) when Hub's colleague (thank you!!!) gave him a box of durian snowskin mooncakes few days later! That's what life is supposed to be, enjoyment of the best food. D24 durian puree in cold and chewy snowskin. Yummy!!
They have a branch in taka
In fact i'm eating them as i'm typing these now
BIRTHDAYS (today and belated)

Today is the birthday of my dearest, irritating and farty bro in law. Happy Birthday!!! May you have bashful of hair happiness eternally. As usual with the tradition which started in August, we made a card for him!!! Same photo frame cum birthday card as sop's.

Her masterpiece

I spelled, she write and she draw. So cute right???

Granny's belated
We brought my granny to T3 for a tour and birthday dinner. She hasn't been to the airport for many years and since it's her birthday....we headed to Earle Swensens for dinner, i warned them that the prices there are different from Swensens and food aren't that great and we end up with $200+ bill for a meal that got everyone complaining about.

On our way to Changi Airport T3 - the sunshine babes

What we gobbled on- BBQ Chicken (so-so), Seafood Pasta (which my granny luved)

and Lobster Baked Rice (no taste of cheese at all)

The attendees

Birthday gal, she's so adorable right?? I mean my granny, she's already 93 years old!!

Update - all in one go!

Sigh...lazy....sleepy...tired to update my blog or photos, not even my K-series can tempt me anymore. I still have like 8 new K-series to catch, think i'll be able to keep some for upcoming fasting month. I really have to pull myself to update this despite the luring of my ever so comfortable bed together with my Hub's superloud snoring as I'm typing this. ;p
HFMD
What a close shave!! We met up with Hub's side on last 2 Sundays and as usual, the kids played together and share their biscuits. The very next day, my youngest SIL messaged me that her 2nd kid was diagnosed with mild HFMD and told me to watch out for Eili. Over the next few days, 4 more cousins was down with HFMD and I'm preparing for the worst - at least 10 days of leave if she suay suay kena HFMD. We brought her to school as usual and informed her principal who told us that the usual incubation period is 3-7 days for the red spots to appear. Eili seems fine with no symptoms at all (loss of appetite, slight fever or red spots) instead she was eating more, like 2 plates of rice and more milk. She probably didn't get it as she just had her tonsil infection a week before that and probably the antibiotics in her systems are defending her immune system. Phew...heng ah.....
BIG PROJECT
After months of discussing, we have finally made our first move - to contact a housing agent. We have just passed our 5th year of residence and are contemplating the question of every hse owner - to sell or not to sell??? I have a hate & love relationship with my flat. As much i hate the silly layout and tiny hall, i also love my current house to bits. Why??
Because we get to enjoy:
  1. The best unblocked seaview with glimpes of passing ships. Sometimes we can hear the ship horn in the morning.
  2. The most beautiful sunrise with misty field across my hall and 3 rooms every morning.
  3. Side view of Pulau Ubin and when night falls, you can see planes navigating from and to airport.
  4. Fireworks from the ships during New Year Day or from our neighbouring country during their National Day.
  5. Peaceful and silence environment, as the small road below are seldom utilised.
  6. Great neighbour relationship.
  7. LRT station, coffeeshop and a new supermarket is only 5 mins away.
  8. Abdundant of empty plots which many used it to fly kites or planes during the weekend.
  9. Windy weather most of the year, we hardly switched on our air con.
  10. More amentities and not to mention the higher value of the property.

So you must be asking, why am I still selling??? Because of the small hall space, if not everything will be that perfect. Because of the strange layout, much of my hall+dining space have been 'eaten' by the walkway which is totally unnecessary. Seriously, we have the worst layout amongst the 4 room in Punggol, interior and exterior. Still there is a tinge of feeling prevented from selling, after all, this is my very first home where Eili was born and raised but the hall space will forever be a hindrance. My choice of area will still be in Punggol, i liked here. It's clean and quiet and not too over populated (yet). It's a matter of convenience as well since my pomelo and her sister, Rockmelon are staying in this area. They can help to fetch Eili whenever we are stuck at work and vice versa.

Today we went to view some flats in Pasir Ris (Hub's choice) and Punggol. Pasir Ris flats are disappointing since most of them have stayed 10-12 years and condition of the flats are pretty run down though the size is huge (134 sqm), confirm have to overhaul the whole unit. So i weighed it heavily on Hub, i'm good at that..heee...to make him see that Punggol, despite the higher price and smaller size to Pasir Ris will be a better choice. Most of them only stayed 6 years (max) and condition are better and newer. Predict??? I WON - he finally bowed to the idea of choosing somewhere here. Now we just need to find the perfect house which are quite difficult, since if you remember, my blk here have the best view in Punggol.

*yawn* more viewing next week since nothing caught my eyes today. As i told the agent, finding the perfect home is like finding a perfect husband - LOVE IN THE FIRST SIGHT. So far no unit gave me the umphhh feeling.

BIRTHDAY

Tomorrow, for the first time in my life, are bringing my granny out to celebrate her 94th birthday (not exact as you know how the registration system work back in the 50s). I'm bringing her to Changi Beach and T3. I'm sooo excited about it.

wow that's a very long entry for 2 weeks of not updating....gotto sleep now and join in the snoring club with my other half....nite...oppps, i meant gd morning.

confirmed!!

yes...yes....4 more days to HK. That's what i'm excited about on my last post and to think we only finalised our trip 2 wks ago.

Us in 2005 - maiden trip

Why HK again?? Cos it's the cheapest furthest place we can go, my other destination - Korea are simply too exp to fulfil. Before we reach Korea, we would have to spend about $6K for the trip and for a fraction of that amount, we can travel to HK, why not?? Plus HK is the only place i can convinced my dear hub to go as it's still winter in HK, so the weather will be super cool and cold like Genting. Last weather check 16-19 deg. SHIOK AH! psst...we s'poreans are sucker for cold weather..hahaha

I know, i have been to HK every year since 2005, not too bad lah. Some people visit HK as if like going to Orchard. HahahaAHaha.....Well, HK is like another BKK, a place you will never get tired of it. WHY?? cos too much shopping shopping and shopping!!!

This time i will make sure i visit the places that i couldn't last year - like the Peak, watching the Syphomny of Lights, Mdm Tussuad Museum and Shenzhen. I will give Macau a miss, the ferry tickets are sooooo exp!!!! S$50-S$80 for a round trip! i would rather save that amount in exchange for more shopping. Wakakakaka...

Some photos which we took in Malacca (feb 2008) and Genting (dec 2007):

MALACCA - 8 Feb 2008

Mascot friendly now...

Look how she keep her arm away from the elephant trunk - she herself asked to feed the elephant!!

Mothers' Day Part 1

/*Mothers' Day Celebration Part 1 */

I luv them to bits. They may be noisy and naughty but they are the cutest around!!

The usual suspects gathered at Abang's house on Sat for Mothers' Day Celebration. We had sambal beef (POWER!!), fried beehoon, BBQ chicken/hotdog/crabstick, lemak and 5 cakes to celebrate. Yes, 5 cakes! My youngest SIL baked 3 sinful choc cakes/brownie, Kak Ani baked another choc and i brought my cute cake that i baked in the morning with Eili.

The next morning, hub and me woke up with sore throat. Ah heck lah, I'm still stuffing food with chilli as the chinese saying goes "医毒攻毒" (cure the poison with poison) and it works. Feeling much better this morning..wakakaka...
