a BRAND 2008 year (part 1)

Year 2008

what an exciting (and emotional) year!!! A year which i received much abundance and protection from God, a year which taught me to live life happier, to let myself go for the first time and enjoy the fruits of my labour.

2007 is a tremendous good year which shot up my earning power through the sky and going into 2008 turning 30 had another tremendous effect on me. Older = wiser??? not really....

For a gal who never bowed to any branded house, who thinks that 'a good buy is when you pay less for a product that looked expensive', well still my thinking these days. I have come a long way to reward myself with my first ever branded bag all because of my sister!! She went to Italy for honeymoon and tempted me with the cheap prices of Louis Vuitton as compared back home. At least few hundreds difference for the same bag sold at Raffles Hotel, tell me who won't be tempted????

As a 'celebration' of turning 30 this year, i treated myself with my first LV bag, a Speedy 25, something i can afford comfortably, and with partial sponsorship from my sisters as my 30th birthday gift.
As the saying goes 'once a woman got her first branded stuff, she'll NEVER STOP'. How true!!! Next i lay my hands on the next 'cheaper' branded stuff i can afford, COACH, a brand that are despised in USA but well-loved here.

My 2008 theory is, as long as i liked the design, the price is primary issue (without bursting my bank account). So here i go, getting my second and third branded bag...so shallow of me...but then say what you want to say....i'm enjoying my fruits....

Snow White & 7 Dwarfs (singapura version)

Date: 8 Dec 2008
Venue: Drama Arts Centre
Play: Snow White & 7 Dwarfs
Co: Wildrice Theatre
Audience: Anyone 4 years and above!
End by: 20 Dec 2008 (quickly book!!)

Folks U MUST WATCH this play by Wildrice Theatre which was founded by popular and talented stage actor Ivan Heng (Jack's mum in Jack & the Beansprouts). I especially love when the casts interacted with the audience and mixture of crisp perfect English, Singlish and Malay were spoken. How original! To rake up the audience's mood, party packs were sold together with the programme. So imagine the loud sound of the clappers rang everytime the cast came on stage, the mood is beyond description!! Almost felt like I'm at a pop concert!

This is the 2nd play i have watched staged by Wildrice and they DID IT AGAIN! I first watched with Eili on their 2006 play - Jack & the Beansprouts and even Eili who is 2 years old at that time enjoyed the play tremendously.

Even though it's targeted for children (read title) but i am afraid the adults will enjoy more than the kiddos! A great cast, a clever script and wonderful songs for this play directed by Hossan Leong. They have tickled me endlessly with their 'well hidden' political /adult jokes and bowled me over with the great crystal voices of Sebastian Tan ("the Queen"), Elena Wang ("Snow White") and Celine Tan ("Magic Mirror").
Oh we spotted Lim Yu Beng, Tan Kheng Hua and Karen Tan who were there to lent their support for their fellow friends. One of the young actress was the child of Lim Yu Beng and Tan Kheng Hua. There was a blooper towards the ending, Sebastian Tan's wig was caught at the edge of the magic mirror and revealed his head full of scotch-tape. Definitely not planned as the cast stood there with giggles and even thrown his wig around before dumping it behind stage. So funny!! Karen Tan stood up and cheered Sebastian, probably to encourage him to continue, not from embarrassment but for him to stop laughing!!!

Really a fun, entertaining play and i will definitely not miss another Wildrice production again...

here are some pics i took (others to be upload other day, some prob with blogger)

Here we are..

Early bonus for the Doc

Know why i said that??
1 visit to GP (general practitioner) and 4 visits to PD (pediatrician) costs me almost $400+ from Nov and Dec. Why? My dear Eili has unfortunately caught a sticky cough bug which refused to go away. She had her cough for almost a month with a barrel of phlegm stucked inside her system, luckily not in her lungs which might cause bronchitis.
1 week later, she had middle ear infection which means mucus built up behind her ear drum and she had to complete 2nd round of antibiotic. Before we can recover from the tireless visits to the clinic, which we have to wait 2 hours for every visit (that's how popular that clinic), she caught another bad bug virus.
She had slight fever and complained of throbbing headache. At first we wasn't sure that she really mean it as we thought a 4.5 years old gal won't understand real definition of 'headache' till i found my answer at babycenter.com. She's at this age where she can complain of one and parents should never dismiss that as a bluff.
decisions...decisions..decisions....
That's one thing every parents faced, especially when their child is sick. How do we know when it's serious enough to send the child to hospital or clinic. Sometimes a bad decision can cause adverse effect and I don't want to even think about the consequences. Yet we can't be that kiasu or kancheong to send their kid to A&E for every single minor illness, this'll clot up the real emergency system in A&E.
I read in the new about a stepfather who sent his 12 yo son to a polyclinic when that boy had a 40deg fever!! 40deg is no joke you know, when didn't he send to A&E or a clinic which has faster waiting system than polyclinic?? For this we'll never find out and that boy who succumbed to an unknown illness (suspected of HFMD), his parents definitely have to live with that guilt. So who said parenting is easy??
I almost wanted to rush Eili to A&E after she vomitted 1/4 bucket of mixed cheese, veg and rice. Yucks!! And she kept complaining of headache but her fever was only 38deg highest. It was after an hour later (and sweating) that i noticed her fever went down and her bloatedness of her tummy before i can sleep at ease.
For now, she's going to miss 3 days of school as we wanted her to fully recovered before she can return to school on Monday and we pray hard that she won't catch any sticky bad virus again.
