I AM CRAZY...on baking

I think i gone crazy on baking..almost, for 3 consecutive weeks, i have been baking different type of cookies and cupcakes. Trying to perfect my skills for the upcoming festival, Hari Raya. So i have been stuffing 3 of us with butter, sugar and choc loaded stuffs and I CAN'T STOP!!

Today after dinner, i decided to try baking the M&M cookies since it's still early. I ended up baking more than 50pcs of cookies till 10pm. After baking, then the pain and ache from the neck to my legs came. Arghhh...so aching...

I think the love of seeing the end product are what that thrills me to bake more...

Finally...after years of complaining that I hate or can't bake, i did the impossible... Not only i baked cookies, i baked cupcakes too!! Neh, no photos of cookies cos there are too many burnt ones to show. Hahaha...i need some time to adjust to the temperature of my oven and the one indicated in the cookbook. Well that's 51/2 years without a proper oven so now with my new helper, Indesit, i have no excuse not to!!

The cupcakes turned out nicer and easier to make and should be consumed right after cooling. Oh the choc ganache really make the whole thing more irresistible....yummy...who cares about getting fat!! Anyway i'm now so may as well take this opportunity to gorge and diet after delivery. Haaa...

My next ambition, perhaps to bake a cake soon - but now, to explore more different flavours of cookies and cupcakes....

C.o.o.k.ing

I'm tired of cooking rice and noodles. At times, i wanted to have some nice steak for dinner but knowing that i only have 30-45mins to prepare dinner from the moment i stepped home and before Ms Whiny gave me more of her tantrums, I have to cook something that's fast and delish.

Until i saw the few pieces of chicken breast at my freezer and the frozen pitas i got from the mart. Aha, i thought, this should be simple. And it's really simple and filling meal, took maybe less than 10 mins to prepare this dish. I basically marinated the meat with oyster sauce, pepper and some sesame oil and pan smeared with butter, the east-west combination is heaven!!! Throw in the pita to the oven and heat up and it's ready!

To complement this wonderful dish, i made some butterflavoured mashed potato with coriander, instant mushroom soup and zucchi/cherry tomatoes. Tada!!!!!

Happy Mothers' Day!

Went for ours first ever baking class together at Genius R Us and we are supposed to bake Strawberry Shortcake. Not that cartoon SSC but it was a vanilla spongecake filled with strawberry and it's really a very very short cake!

Maybe I held higher expectation that day and was disappointed when I reached the venue. The place was small and cramp. Inside the room are 2 tables with 6 chairs each and all 6 are sharing the ingredients. We even have to take turn to whisk the mixture! How pathetic is that? The workshop was highly publicised in the papers, mags and on TV so naturally I thought the place will be well equipped and organised. WRONG WRONG WRONG!!! Everyday about the place is so cheapo, from the venue to the ingredients. We are given only 6-8 strawberries for six 7 inch cakes, poor us! Anyway, i didn't enjoyed the session as Eili is cranky probably she's hungry as the session ended 30 mins later and I'm feeling tired. Grr...

I think the only part i enjoyed most is decorating the cake, other than that i was half asleep during class. Haha...

I wanted to draw a flower but Eili pressed the cream too hard and it came out like this but I managed to savage the cake by making it look like a weird flower! Clever me!

Everybody is packing and going off and I have no idea what to decorate so the rush rush panicky result.
